Roanhead Crop Circles
Full of Noises, Barrow-in-furness.
Artist residency
I spent alot of time on Roanhead Beach, South Walney nature reserve and Barrow archives, exploring and getting to know the coastline better.
As part of the residency, I invited a group of volunteers to discuss humans, plants, animals and natural forces relationship to our coastlines. Asking what owns the beach? What’s responsible for it? And why is it important? This resulted in the creation of a crop circle on Roanhead beach.
A massive thank you to all the crop circle creators, who were so generous with their time and thoughts.
The aim of the residencey was to gather material to explore communication between humans and coastal plants and animals. Digging is something humans have done since time began, for work, and for leisure. The film celebrates how this may become a new form of interspecies transmission.
